baaaah.

that’s a big thing i noticed in a lot of first genERS – the family always seems to have a black sheep. an “american”in their family. a “marihuanera, vago, loca, emotional” whatever name you are usually called. i referenced some of mine growing up haha. they never meant it for hate, more just of a place of love and usually concern and judgement.
i learned it’s a good thing to be this way. the people we meet! the bonds we create. they are deep. they are strong. and they have a lot of empathy due to our upbringing.
being the black sheep and a destructive family is a little harsh. my high school years as you can probably picture or filled with double bass rock, black hoodies and antisocial behavior. the whole not fitting in was a valid and true feeling growing up. what’s crazy is that i created bonds with same first geners. they felt the same thing.
being the black sheep has been a blessing in my adult years as I watch families repeat trauma without healing. this black sheep got therapy young without any help because this black sheep hit rock bottom. this black sheep got judged very young for that therapy. now this black sheep has flourished and healed some of those wounds. this black sheep found her family and created her own little black sheep crew. should I do black sheep merch? haha.
thanks for listening to ted talk.
